I moved to Poughkeepsie as a teen. My family lived near a Marist Brothers residence, so we came to know and admire the Brothers over the years. To help pay for my college education, I worked as a toll collector on the Mid-Hudson Bridge and as a student assistant for Marist security. Along the way I became good friends with the late Seán Sammon ’70 because we shared an interest in philosophy and took many courses with the notable Dr. D.A. Drennen.

Inspired by our families and my Marist experiences, my late wife, Lynn, and I would keep community service as a focus of our personal and professional lives. Seán would go on to become Brother Seán Sammon, FMS, Superior General of the Marist Brothers.
I decided to honor the legacy of my dad, a decorated U.S. World War II combat veteran and accomplished businessman, by establishing an endowed scholarship. Marist has always held an important place in my life, and I am pleased to help future generations of students benefit from a Marist education.
