What have you been up to since graduation?
After graduating, I went on to play professional basketball in Yerevan, Armenia, all while completing my certification in personal training. We won the 2019–2020 regular season championship, but the season was cut short due to COVID-19. I then returned home and continued to run my online fitness business called Lo-Lamb Company that I started in 2018 while I was attending Marist. This is a fitness-based company that sells activewear and home exercise equipment. I give a percentage of all my earnings to nonprofits that help homelessness in the city of Baltimore. The business received a boost due to the high demand of home exercise equipment during COVID because everyone had to work out from home. I also started an online personal training business where I would train people from the comfort of their own home that turned into in-person training once restrictions were lifted. I recently started a new job as a physician liaison for the Maryland Vascular Specialists where I’m putting my marketing and communications degree to work. I'm excited to be a part of their amazing team.
What is your fondest memory of Marist?
The fondest memory at Marist has to be my first college basketball game. It was special to me because it has been a goal of mine since I was younger to play Division I basketball.
What is your favorite place on campus and why?
My favorite place on campus is what we called “The Marist Beach.” The beach is right in front of the library and outside of the Admissions building, the open grass area. There are some nice lawn chairs that you can lounge in on a nice day and enjoy the pretty view of the Hudson River, colorful trees in the spring, and the beautiful sky. It was both a relaxing place and a hangout spot for my friends and me depending on the time of the day.
Who was your favorite Marist professor or class?
My favorite professor was actually my academic advisor, Alyssa Gates. She helped me through my years at Marist and even helped me declare my major and find what I was skilled at. I still remain in touch with her.
How have you remained involved with Marist since graduating?
I'm not involved with Marist as much as I would like. That is a goal of mine for the years to come, to get more involved with the Alumni Office at Marist.
How did Marist prepare you for your success?
Marist was so diverse that it showed me how to communicate and network with all kinds of people from different backgrounds and religions. For example, on the basketball team alone we had four players from other countries, including Iceland, Sweden, Montenegro, and Denmark. Entering Marist I never had the chance to travel out of the country, and it was truly eye-opening for me to meet these students and be able to call them friends.
Think back to your freshman year; what advice would you self-give or offer to another student?
Use your daily planner/agenda. I didn't utilize my Marist agenda until junior year when the workload increased. It helped me stay on top of major projects and small tasks I had to do throughout the week. Also, enjoy your college years. However, don't have fear of missing out because there will be so many chances to hang out with friends or go to events, get your schoolwork done first.
If you’re not in your office working, where are we most likely to find you?
In the gym. My physical health is something that has always been important to me, and I take pride in it. Exercising daily is something I started taking seriously in college, and I continue to do it today.
