“Inspired by my mother, family, and Marist to unleash my passion for sport, academics, and college development, I was led to create something that will have a permanent effect that will grow with the College,” said Frederick E. Dever, Jr. ’87. Fred, who served as a captain of the Marist men’s swimming and diving team and is a member of the Alumni Executive Board, established the Dever Family Swim Scholarship to support a student-athlete in men’s swimming and diving. The scholarship is in memory of his mother, Joan Dever, and family who have a storied background in aquatics and sport. Joan Dever was a professional synchronized swimmer in the New York City aqua show at the World’s Fair and coached competitive swimming. Fred shared, “It is most rewarding to build a new Red Fox family through the recipients and contributors of the Dever Family Swim Scholarship. Go Red Foxes!”
