“My mom, Edith Patrick, was the best person I have ever known. She was kind, loving, caring, and deeply inquisitive about life and all it has to offer. I decided to establish a scholarship in her name, not only to honor her but to make sure her memory is a blessing to current and future students at Marist,” said Alvin Patrick ’86. Mrs. Patrick passed away in October 2020 at the age of 83. Born in the Dutch Caribbean, Mrs. Patrick spoke five languages, was a devout Christian, and had a long career in accounting. The Edith C. Patrick Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to incoming freshmen with demonstrated financial need. Preference will be given to first-generation college students and those with an interest in mathematics, accounting, foreign languages, or religion—all of which were among Mrs. Patrick’s special interests.
