Marist is grateful to the Noonan family for establishing the Brendan Shea Noonan Memorial Scholarship, funded through a generous commitment by Dr. John D. Noonan, MD ’69 and Barbara Shea Noonan together with their children Kristen Noonan, John Noonan, Kathleen Noonan, and William Noonan. Brendan studied biology in college and was an avid outdoors enthusiast. The Brendan Shea Noonan Memorial Scholarship provides financial assistance to full-time juniors majoring in biology with demonstrated financial need.
A recipient of the 2019 Dr. Linus Richard Foy ’50 Outstanding Alumnus Award, John served as chief of plastic surgery at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, New York, and as plastic surgery residency program director and assistant professor of plastic surgery at Albany Medical Center. In addition, he was among the early participants in Operation Smile, a nonprofit medical treatment organization that dispatches medical teams headed by plastic surgeons to inner cities, poor rural areas of the U.S., and abroad. Now retired, John continues to volunteer and consult at Albany Medical Center.
